Marked: KTF, 77 (both), Clipmates, Pat No 2050804 Reference: Mark, design, and construction date this to after Nov 1936, when the Clipmate patent was granted, and before the change of marks in Dec 1937 Condition: Excellent Size: 3.5' x 1. Clipmates made from 1936 to the end of 1937 would have the "KTF" mark. Its beautiful! Trifari Clip-mates Clipmates are marked "Clip-mates" inside the mechanism on the dressclip attached inside the bottom of the clip, and may also have a stone setters number. This pin is in excellent condition, t is slight yellowing of one stone (easily replaced) but not noticeable. Marked : Clip mates (one clip), Pat No 2050804 (the other). Using the Patent Number 2050804 which is marked on it I have been able to date this piece to 1936 to 1937 and is by Trifari's chief designer Alfred Phillippe, who submitted the patent number 2050804 on August 11, 1936. The brooch is in excellent condition, and appears to be unworn. This mechanism was patented by Philippe Alfred of Crown Trifari in 1936. The Pat Pend mark dates the clips to before the. This rare and wonderful Clipmate duette bird brooch comes apart with a clever mechanism to make two smaller pins. It is stamped CLIP-MATE on the back and also KTF (see photo) with the stone setters number 47.
